visual inheritance in asp.net user controls...

Hi,

Is it possible to inherit from a base UserControl so that there is a
standard layout on each of the inheriting user controls?

I want to be able to have a user control in a CMS that has two states, edit
and view. Having a multiview on the base control and a method for switching
from one mode to the other would be ideal.

Is this possible?
