VS Web Dev. Express Opinions

S

SStory

I just installed VS Web Dev. Express 2005. I have used 2003 for a while.

1.) What is in the normal version that is missing from the express version?
Any links to this would be fine. I found none.
2.) How does the group feel about this 2005 product as compared to 2003?
Casual playing suggests that it is a lot easier to use, but I would like to
hear from folks who are seriously using the product.

TIA,

Shane

1.) There is very little in visual studio 2005 that isn't in Web Dev. Express
2005 the main reason for me to get the full version is MSDN membership
(although you can get it without).

2.) The two are hard to compare on those terms because 2005 is designed for
..net 2.0 and 2003 for .net 1.1. They are each suited to their particular
role.

I found Visual Studio 2005 to be a huge improvement over 2003. There
are loads of great new features, some of my favourites include:

- Class diagrams
- Partial classes (so auto-generated init code is hidden away)
- Debugger Visualizers
- Refactoring
- Better IntelliSense (e.g. in web.config)
- Master pages
- Profiles
- Themes
- Membership API & login controls/wizards
- ObjectDataSource
- Generics
- DataView control

hmm -- not sure if some items are the features of .NET framework and NOT
VS.NET itself
