VS2005 Toolbox Issues

D

David Hearn

I have a new website that I am working on in VS2005. I know that the
SQLConnection, SQLDataAdapter and a few other components are not loaded into
the toolbox by default. So I click "Add Items", find the SQLConnection and
others and add them to the toolbox. However, the components don't show up in
the toolbox unless I right click on it and select "Show All Items". Then
they show up, but they are greyed out and unusable. Anyone know why?

Thanks in advance!

David the simplest way to install and enable these database tools in Visual
Studio 2005 is to open the ToolBox window and then scroll down to the "Data"
header. Once there simply right-click that designated header and then
select "Choose Items" from the option menu displayed in the dialog box.

A "Choose ToolBox Items" dialog box will then display whereupon you simply
scroll down to the tool that you require (such as SqlConnection) and select
the checkbox and when done with your selections simply click the OK button
at the bottom of the screen.

Your designated tools will now be both visible and enabled for your use.
An additional word of advice: NEVER uninstall any applications to gain functionality...
ONLY uninstall to correct instability, which is rarely a problem!
