Hi, has anyone ever used VXL?
Is it useful? (it seems so) Does it have a good community (I'm not seeing
any). Is there a newsgroup for VXL users?

No, and "VXL" is completely off-topic here. Your question would probably be
appropriate in comp.programming, though.

It is not completely off-topic, since it's a C++ library

Sorry, this group's scope does not cover libraries other than the standard
C++ lib.

You are right that it is not completely off; but it is pretty far off.
You could program in C++ for all your life and use every part of the
language and still never have heard of VXL, whatever it is. If you have
a C++ question then please ask it, and if you do then the mention of VXL
will not make it any less topical. By the same token, the mentioning of
C++ would not turn a question about something else into a question about
C++.

I used Google

http://www.google.com/

to search for

"VXL"

and I found lots of stuff including

http://vxl.sourceforge.net/

Evidently, this is a "vision [something] library
so one of the *.vision newsgroups such as comp.ai.vision
may be more appropriate. You might also subscribe to the mailing list:
