What does mean the network version?

Hello,

I am not sure that this is the right group but since I am working in a
java project I posted here. Sorry...

***What do you understand from a software's network version? What is
the difference between network and desktop versions of a program? What
must a network version include?

***If my software stores important logs and files to a server and
other misc on local disk; can we say that this is the network version?
i.e., when the program opens, it connects to the server and gets the
most recent logs and files and then continues.. When it exits save to
the server...

eeyimaya

Thanks...

Personally, the first thing I'd think of when hearing about a "network
version" is that the program can be installed in a way that many users
can successfully run it concurrently from a network share, without
having to install it on their own machines. I'd also expect
administration tools to manage such an installation. But the term is
not really clearly defined, other people may have other expectations.
