Hey, I'm noticing that people are recovering the _why code etc but
where and more important - how - is _why, the guy?
Does somebody knows his phone and can make a call to check if everything is ok?
Code can bem recovered, I'm wondering about the human being ...

Thanks!

Well, the guy who was 'outed' as _why says he's not him, and considering he
went by a psuedonym, it's sort of hard to get a hold of him, I'd imagine...

I hope he's okay, too, but if he wanted us to know how he was, he'd have
said something before leaving.

Where you say the person is more important than the code, I would say
the opposite.

I would say that one with no name isn't primarily gratified by people
connecting with them personally. Yes, peer respect is a significant
motivation, but I'd still say that credit and fame aren't that
important.

To honour the person, honour their legacy of code - their works,
influences on people, and personality.

Even if people had his number, I'd bet he would smile much more to know
that there are people hellbent on continuing his past efforts than track
him down and buy him a beer.

Besides, to track him down would be to disrespect his "Right to Vanish".

And even in your case I would disagree here.

...while agreeing here.

Also strongly disagree. But ok, this is a matter of opinion.

Yes, I think he do have the "right to vanish", but my concern is not
"track him down" or kind of "hunt" him, just know if he's ok.
A "he's fine" should be enough for me. :)

I don't know him personally, but he helped me a lot with all his work
when I was learning Ruby and seems to be a very nice person.
And seems that somebody already tried to call the number on the whois
of his domains: http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=773405

Hope he's ok.
