Write ASP.NET 1.1 code with VB.net or VS.net ?

What I need to do:
Create ASP.net 1.1 web-pages.
Use VB.net (server-side).
Use VBscript (client-side).
Use MS-SQL 2000 on a remote-server hosting company.

What I do *NOT* need to do:
Create stand-alone EXE files, or DLL files.
Write code in C++, C#, J#, JavaScript, or any other languages.

(I'm a current "VB 6.0 Professional" user.)

Do I need to buy the "upgrade" CD for:
VB.net 2003 Professional
OR....
Visual Studio.net 2003 Professional?

(Which package will allow me to write ASP.net 1.1 code?)

Thanks.

Technically you could do your development for free in notepad, but I'd
suggest you buy at least VB.NET 2003. This will fullfill the requirements
you described.

The full Visual Studio.NET suite is of course even better if you can afford
it.

WebMatrix is no longer supported for ASP.NET 2.0 so it seems like bad timing
to be getting attached to it.

For .NET 2.0, VS.NET Express editions:
http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/

Otherwise for .NET 1.1 you can use WebMatrix.

Take a couple of classes offerred by any MS/Certified Trainers in your area.

I would stick with VB6.0 because it is much easier and peace. VS.Net and
..Net are like "PIZA Super Supreme", very rich! You will not be able to
distinguish between cheese, runny butter and tomato sauce. What a convoluted
environment! But if you insist .Net stuffs, then I would safely forget
everything you know about VB6.x. .Net is a new thing! Very new!

If I were you, I would wait for VS.Net 2k5. While waittimg, you may want to
download beta version of VS.Net 2k5 (there is a VB.Net version). It is very
good for c#. I donot know about VB.Net.
