Xerces library SAX question

Hello

I need to teach myself the Xerces SAX API fairly quickly for work but
something I'm not sure about is the difference between SAX and SAX2. The
Xerces web site is not very forthcoming. Is SAX2 an updated version of SAX or
does it use a slightly different model that is more or less efficient in
C++ compared to its java origins?
