XML features

Hi,
I started programming with VB.NET 2005 and i'm getting step by step in
it then i discovered XML that's special for Data saving
What i want to know if XML had another fonctionnality than saving
data ?

There is XHTML <http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/>, the XML version of HTML.
There is SVG <http://www.w3.org/TR/SVG11/>, an XML application to define
vector graphics.
There are several Office XML formats.
There is XSLT (<http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt>,
<http://www.w3.org/TR/xslt20>), a declarative template based programming
language to transform XML to HTML or XML or text.

These are just a few XML example applications.

XML is essentially a shared syntax and a set of tools for processing
that syntax. Markup languages are then built on top of that syntax to
describe everything from web pages to graphics to business transactions
to manufacturing to....
