xsl:fo retrieve width and height of an imag

hi folks,
I am using FOP in order to generate a PDF file.
Now I want to know if it is possible to retrieve the width and height
of an external graphic (gif/jpg).
This is necessary for rendering the image with its correct
width/height ratio.
any suggestions?
