[JDK7]Java's many registry entries under Windows

S

Stefan Ram

If one installs the current JDK7 preview and then searches
the registry for »CAFEEFAC« one should find a huge number of
registry keys, most of them with the same contents.

In the web, I can read that this is intended to allow
applications to query JREs of a specific version and patch
level. But still, doesn't all these keys look as if they
clutter the registry?

Could you just try out typing java -version in command line? That could be the version used.
