Listen Guys & Gals,

I'm aware that the rough code I submitted doesn't stand up to your exacting
standards, it was only a rushed example of how the OP's request could be
done. All I wanted to do was to show her that what others were telling her
was impossible to do was in fact accomplishable. I didn't want to do the
whole job for her as part of the learning process is to discover the
solutions for yourself so I just wanted to show her one possible road to a
solution... nothing more.

Clam down brothers and sisters, we're all the same species :)

Read what Els said, I think you have mistaken quite what OP required
(not just some minor details, but something more fundamental, the main
thing being that the table cell widths and heights are not known in
advance).

(What do you put in your sausage casserole? I hope it is not the average
fatty sausages).

Birregurra Bangers... yum ;)

OK, I'm visiting my Grandma today (Sat), but when I get back (approx
3pm) I'll knock a demo up.

When I come back from Grandma's, sex is the furthest thing from my
mind.

You seem to miss the point - your example does *not* show it's possible
at all. Quite the opposite. If it doesn't stand up to increased text
sizes, it's not an acceptable solution.

I see nothing but a blue background. Can't say it's very impressive. :-\

I see lots of things-- moving stuff, "click here" links that flash in and
out of sight, impossible-to-hit-so-tiny buttons, can't say which annoys me
more. But I do like the *background*; subtle enough not to distract.

The only table cell there with a stretched image that I can find, has
no text in it, is a fixed height and width, so basically doesn't need
a stretched image. Am I missing something?
Oh, and just bump up the font a couple of clicks, see what that does.

As far as I can see, the OP wanted to stretch an image in a table
cell, because he does not know the size of the cell - that's why it
needs to stretch with the cell. Your example doesn't do that I think?

I have modified the code so that each cell or the entire table can be
dynamically resized...

At first sight it seems to work, although I can still make the text in
the fourth cell spill over the bottom border.

I'll admit it looks possible with your method, but it's quite
impractical I think with each cell needing 3 divs, and it not being
100% failproof. Like when the table's height is not defined.

Be careful Els, he blew you kisses but has mentioned grandmas...

Yup, I always liked brucie's kisses better...
remember the wolf in Little Red Riding Hood? And has bared those teeth
with his "here's a link to a demo for all the trolls/haters/doubters...".

He won't bite - he can have that casserole when he's hungry.
Andy originally showed some mark up which did not seem to be anywhere
near the "good news" he claimed. I am now wondering what the sausage
casserole he said he had in the oven was like. Recipe please, Andy.

He could be better at cooking than at HTML of course! I'll second the
request for that recipe :)
