Easy questions from a python beginner

As of a few minutes ago, this thread had 48 postings on my news
server.

To paraphrase somebody famous:

    There are no such things as easy questions.  There are, however,
    easy answers.  And they're wrong.

Ha! This is the very reason i always steer clear of any post with the
words "easy", "simple", or "BUSTARDS" in the title. ;-)
