is there anything we can do about Jon Harrop?

Owen Jacobson

The subject line says it all.

Nothing. He's entitled to his opinion; if you don't want to read it
you're welcome to killfile him and never see a thing he posts.

Unfortunately, that might prevent the correction of factually incorrect
statements that he occasionally spreads alongside the opinions to which he
is entitled.

You have killfile ability on your newsreader. Use it.

So I do, never knew that. Doesn't seem to be working mind you, but I
guess I'll figure it out.

He is entitled to his opinions. Personally I think Scheme is the best
language ever devised by man. But I don't go boring this group with that
opinion.

I'm not sure if you're being ironic or not.

Well, I can't address that, perhaps a Thunderbird forum of some sort
(again assuming this is not an ironic statement). My killfile works
just fine for him.

No irony. I guess the filter only works for future messages, not the
ones I've been unfortunate to download so far. We'll see.

That's true of Thunderbird and was as well for the old Netscape
newsreader it was based on. It's unfortunate, as it's difficult to tell
whether a filter you've created is working correctly.

Many other newsreaders will retroactively apply filters to downloaded
messages.
