And since Dan's threshold is apparently set to "if you make any mistakes at
all then you're an idiot"...

Nope, it's set to: if you fail to recognise your mistakes after they're
clearly pointed out to you, you're an idiot. Of course, I can't expect
you to understand the difference...

Dan, his attack is not gratuitous. You frequently respond abusively
to posters who have not in any way behaved like idiots.

Nope. I value any intelligent contribution to the discussions I
participate, whether it is in agreement with my own views or not. I am
here to learn, too.
I for one am
sick and tired of it, and I get the impression that the majority of
the regulars are also sick and tired of it.

Couldn't care less.
Yes, you are capable of disagreeing in a civil manner. Please do so
more often.

As often as I am disagreeing with an intelligently formulated objection,
point or argument.

Don't expect a civil reply when you admit having forgotten the topic of
the discussion or when you're talking about the maintenance problems
of the solution to a homework assignment that was explicitly prefaced
by a "don't do that in real programs" warning. You're highly unlikely
to get such a reply.
This newsgroup would be a significantly more pleasant place if you
would continue to provide your excellent technical expertise without
going off on rants with little or no provocation.

Sorry, I can't resist exposing any manifestation of idiocy as such.
Behave intelligently and you have nothing to fear about ;-)
