Thanks for the explanation. You probably don't want to look at my code, as
I adhere to the [tab|8_space] indent of K&R.

I don't recall any indent recommendations in K&R, but my copy is
printed on paper (no tab characters) and the indent seems to be four
characters.

My copy of K&R2 seems to indent to four too. Then I checked K&R1. It
seems to indent to five! Curious but not important.

I completely agree, and don't feel this attitude is 'extreme'
at all, but simply practical. I do indeed use the convenience
of the 'tab' key for indentation, but I configure my editors
to convert tabs to spaces.

Very few people consider their own beliefs "extreme", regardless of what
they (those beliefs) are.

My hat is off to Derrick for being able to poke a little fun at himself.
