I want to calculate with this data. What seemed simple has now become to
complicated as a thread and has moved off topic and in every which
direction. I will work on this some myself.

Well then; just use time(0) to get whatever time
is now (most systems return seconds since Jan 1st 1970).
Just don't forget your timezone, 'localtime' will be fine, if the system
ist set up correctly...

I was also going to write some technical analysis functions to apply to
the different securities. The name of the security would be a struct. Alas I
am having great difficulty finding a good tutorial on them. Maybe I have
forgotten alot from working with sockets because that is easy. I have found
I site that describes conditionals like if else if and else splendedly and
much clearer than kandr2.
