The central problem is that in code such as

for(i=0;i<Nemployees;i++)

the compiler has no way of knowing whether Nemployees is likely to be zero,
one, a few, a few hundred, or 2 billion, 4 billion assuming Nemployees is a
size_t.

Except, I presume, when that size_t is 64 bits large?
